Born and raised in Hazlehurst, Eric chose to come home. He and his wife Jennifer, married in 2022, both serve the community in primary care at Family Healthcare Connections.
Eric is the proud father of Logan (U.S. Army, 101st Airborne), Dylan (studying education at Brewton-Parker College), Adalyn, and stepdaughters Ayla and Haley — and grandfather to two-year-old Ellie.
Eric began his healthcare career in 2012 and earned his Master of Science in Nursing from South University in 2016.
For the past nine years he has practiced as a Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN, FNP-C), caring for patients and families throughout the community.
As a business owner he understands payroll, costs, customer service, accountability, regulation, and making decisions when resources are limited.
Eric owned and operated a custom cabinet shop alongside his father, Ronnie Carelock — learning the hard work and responsibility of running a small business in Hazlehurst.
His mother, Ruby Carelock, taught in Hazlehurst for more than 12 years as part of a 30-plus-year career in education, helping shape generations of local students.
Eric has poured years of coaching and mentorship into the youth of Jeff Davis County, investing countless hours and many seasons of wisdom and character building into our future citizens of Hazlehurst.

Good local government starts with listening to people, communicating openly, and making thoughtful, practical decisions that put the community first.
Actively pursue new jobs, employers, and manufacturing so people can build successful careers without leaving their hometown.
Residents deserve to know what city government is doing, understand the decisions made on their behalf, and feel heard.
City procedures and billing processes should be efficient, understandable, and responsive to the people they serve.
Improve the cleanliness and appearance of our city by addressing neglected and dilapidated properties through fair, consistent enforcement.
